We’re back!!! The Washington, D.C. chapter of Girls in Technology is relaunching under the direction of Baan Alsinawi, president and founder of risk management firm TalaTek, as Managing Director. The chapter will cover the Virginia-D.C.-Maryland area and joins other U.S. chapters in major cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix, San Francisco, San Diego and Seattle.
The newly relaunched D.C. chapter will join GIT’s global community that was established in 2007 and is comprised today of 60 chapters with more than 100,000 members in 36 countries across six continents. The mission of GIT D.C. is to empower women in tech to achieve their dreams in work and in life through the creation of innovative programming, strategic local partnerships, mentorship and education.
While we are just getting started, we are planning lots of great content and activities for our members including four events in 2019. Our first event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm ET on March 21 at the Tower Club in Tyson’s Corner. The event is free to all interested women.
For those who would like to take on a volunteer leadership position, look no further. The chapter is currently recruiting for volunteer board positions. Interested applicants should email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
